This stunning 2 bed stone cottage for winter rentals in South France, is located in the heart of the Faugères wine region, 25 mins from Beziers and 35 mins to the Mediterranean coast. The cottage is located in the small village of Caussiniojouls, which is surrounded by vineyards and wooded hills. The location is idyllic and provides an excellent winter base to enjoy the warm sunny days of the South of France.
The cottage was originally a barn for storing wine and animals and some of these original features have been retained in the property conversion. Today, the cottage provides a high level of furnishings and fittings, with 2 terraces providing amazing views.
The cottage can be rented for 3-6 months between October to April from €1500 per month + bills.

The cottage is arranged over several levels and has a surprising amount of living and outdoor space.
Ground floor
- There is the enclosed garden with terrace, barbecue area and private swimming pool.
- There is also a summer kitchen, together with additional sleeping accommodation and a bathroom.
- There is also a large double garage, with additional parking for 2 cars immediately in front of the garage.
Lower First floor
- This is devoted to a very spacious lounge with two large comfortable sofas, TV and a wood-burning stove – an especially attractive feature for a winter rental.
- Steps take you up to the kitchen, dining area and main entrance
First floor
The main living space is on the first floor and this is where the main entrance to the house is.
- There is a sleek modern kitchen with breakfast bar, large range cooker, American fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, Espresso machine, toaster and kettle.
- There is a spacious dining area which opens directly onto a large sunny terrace for outdoor dining.
- In the large entrance hall you can see the original wine vat that was used to storing wine and a stone trough for feeding the animals. There is a guest WC next to the front door.
Second floor
- There are two spacious double bedrooms, both with their own en-suite bathrooms.
- This floor also provides access to a fabulous roof terrace with beautiful views across the rooftops of Caussiniojouls and towards the wooded hills beyond.

This stone cottage is a stunning property to rent for a few months as a winter base in the South of France. The village is located in an idyllic spot, surrounded by vineyards and hills in all directions.
The property has 5G Wi-Fi, making it a particularly interesting for remote workers. It would also suit house hunters, keen cyclists and walkers, or wine lovers wanting to immerse themselves in one of the Languedoc's best-known wine regions.
For anyone looking for winter rentals in France in the sunniest part of France, the setting is difficult to beat.
The different levels in the property, may not make it suitable for pets or people with mobility issues.

Caussiniojouls (pronounced 'koss-ee neo-zhools' in French) is a small and picturesque wine village in the Hérault department of Southern France. Surrounded by vineyards and wooded hills, it lies in the heart of the Faugères wine region.
Surprisingly, given its size, the village has its own cafe-bar, which opens Thursday to Sunday and serves breakfasts, teas and French bistro meals.
For wine lovers, this is a particularly special location. Faugères is one of the best-known appellations in the Languedoc, and vineyards and independent wine domaines dominate the surrounding countryside. The neighbouring village of Faugères is also known for its historic windmills and enjoys wonderful views down to the coast.
The countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, with quiet roads winding between vineyards and villages and the more dramatic landscapes of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Park within easy reach. It is an excellent location for someone who wants to get away from busy city-life for the winter: and enjoy the sunshine, the peace & quite and the local unspoilt nature.
For everyday amenities, the local town of Bédarieux (10 km) provides supermarkets, shops, cafés, restaurants and other services. Béziers is around 25–30 minutes away and offers a much wider choice of shopping, restaurants and cultural attractions.
The Mediterranean coast is also within easy driving distance, making it perfectly possible to combine peaceful winter life amongst the vineyards with regular trips to the beaches and coastal towns around Béziers.
Other transport
Béziers is the main transport centre for the area and is approximately 25–30 minutes from Caussiniojouls by car. The A9 autoroute provides connections towards Montpellier and Provence in one direction and Narbonne, Perpignan and Spain in the other.
Béziers also has a major railway station with regional and long-distance connections to Paris, Marseille, Toulouse, Perpignan and Barcelona. Bédarieux, much closer to the property, has a station providing regional rail services.
A car is recommended for a winter stay in Caussiniojouls. This is very much a countryside location, and having your own transport makes it easy to reach the shops as well as explore the area.

Caussiniojols is located 25 km north of Beziers and 10 km south of the town of Bédarieux. The city of Montpellier is located to the east and is around 1 hour 15 mins drive.
One month security deposit to be paid at time of reservation. For stays of 3 months or less, the rent should be paid be paid in advance, prior to arrival. For longer rental periods, the rent can be paid at the start of each month. Minimum stay is usually 3 months.
