Maison d'Eglise is a substantial traditional village house arranged over two main floors, with plenty of space for a family or a couple. The house feels like a real home from home and is a great space to receive visits from friends and family.
Ground floor
- The entrance hall leads to the main lobby, with stairs going up to one of the terraces and to the first floor.
- The main living accommodation is spacious and full of character. The large lounge has comfortable sofas and armchairs arranged around the fireplace, together with a baby grand piano. Exposed stonework, original beams and traditional features give the room a relaxed, individual feel.
- Adjoining the lounge is a generous dining area, with plenty of room for entertaining and family meals.
- The separate kitchen is a good size, with extensive cupboards and work surfaces and plenty of space for preparing meals.

Last visited: October 2026. Maison d'Eglise offers a combination that can be difficult to find in a traditional village house: four bedrooms, large living areas, useful storage and several terraces, all within walking distance of the shops, cafés, restaurants and services in Magalas. Just outside of Magalas, there is a commercial zone with 2 supermarkets, DIY store, butchers, bakers, pharmacy, gym, restaurant and medical clininc.
We particularly like the main living space. The exposed stone, beams, fireplace and baby grand piano give the house real personality, while the separate dining area and kitchen make it practical for everyday living. For an historic village house in the centre of a village, there is a surprising amount of private outside space. The fast Wi-Fi also makes this house suitable for remote working. The large garage is another major advantage for anyone relocating to France with belongings to store.
For tenants looking for a 12 month house rental in the South of France, Maison d'Eglise provides a comfortable and characterful base from which to settle into village life.

Area activities
Magalas is a thriving wine-growing village. There is a market in the town square every Wednesday, and live music many weekends during the summer. Magalas has three restaurants, two cafes, a small supermarket in its centre and a large one on the outskirts, plus doctors, dentist, hairdressers, pharmacy and other facilities. The wonderful medieval church, and its internationally renowned acoustics plays host to many classical concerts. The river Orb provides wonderful swimming only ten minutes away, as well as canoeing at nearby picturesque Roquebrun.
The Languedoc is one of the most fascinating areas of Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea to the east and the Pyrenees Mountains to the south. It benefits from an exceptional climate and has an unusually rich wildlife, a spectacular coast, and surprising history. Things to see include mountains, rivers and lakes, ancient cities, and villages, cathedrals, and castles, notably the famous mountain fortresses popularly known as Cathar Castles.
There are many different activities from sporting to cultural in the Languedoc region. Sports include a wide range of land sports, water sports, air sports, mountain sports, winter sports, golf, hunting, shooting, hawking, and fishing. Other transport
Magalas has its own railway station, located at the end of the road. The station has a number of daily train services to Beziers train station, which has TGV connections to Paris and Barcelona.

To reach Magalas, take the A75 or A9 motorways south through France until you reach Beziers. Then follow the D909 from Beziers straight into Magalas.
