10 International airports with cheap flights to South France

With 10 international airports in South France operating regular flights from UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, continental Europe, Canada and USA; it makes moving to France an easy option if you need to plan a return trip back home or for family and friends to come over to see you. If you plan to move to Northern France, the local airports are less of a consideration, because the Ferry ports Northern coast, allow easy access back to the UK & Ireland, plus you have Paris Charles de Gaulle airport for the full range of international flights.

But if you are looking at moving to Central or Southern France, then being close to a local airport with international flights all year around, can therefore have a big bearing on where you decide to find a long term rental property or where you buy. Ideally, you want to be based within 1 hour 30 mins of an airport and perhaps have an option of 2 or 3 airports within a 2 hour 30 mins radius.

International airports in France

In France, the international flight arrivals are heavily concentrated on Paris. Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is by far the largest airport in France, with over 230 flight destinations around the World and over 100 different airlines operate at the airport. Charles de Gaullle is used by over 200,000 passengers per day and it is the second busiest airport in Europe (after London Heathrow). It is estimated that in 2027, Paris CDG will handle 72.3 million passengers. When you also factor in Paris Orly airport (ORY), which tends to focus on destinations in North Africa and medium-haul Europe routes; the 2 Paris airports handle over 50% of the flights in an out of France. Together, Charles de Gaulle and Orly handle over 100 million passengers per year. The next 10 busiest airports in France, collectively handle 77 million passengers. [SOURCE: World Data - Airports]

So this shows you how much the the airport industry in France is concentrated on Paris. It is perhaps not surprising considering Paris welcomes over 48 million tourist visits per year and is home to 9 out of the top 10 most popular tourist attractions in France. The next most popular region in France is the French Riviera, with 10 million tourists per year.

Over the last 20-30 years, the emergence of a number of low cost carriers such as TUI, Transavia, Volotea, Vueling and especially Ryanair,  and Easyjet, has really opened up regional France, with a vast array of medium-haul routes. The South of France, as well as Dordogne and Bordeaux; have benefited massively from this development. Here we detail the cheapest flight routes to South France during 2027 and the frequency of the flights.

Cheap flights to South France

When we first started our Long Term Rentals in France over 20 years ago, I would say that around 50% of our customers took the long drive down from Northern Europe, Ireland and the UK. Now it is less than 10% - although we did have some Norwegian guests last year who drove down from Oslo, but they vowed never to do it again!

Cheap flights to South France airports

There are now 10 international airports that operate cheap flights to Southern France. This has resulted in a major boom in the tourism industry, especially in the Languedoc region. It is now no longer a question of whether you are flying to Nice for a holiday on the French Riviera or Marseille airport to reach your holiday home in Provence. The growth of international flights to Nimes airport, Montpellier airport, Beziers airport, Carcassonne and Perpignan airports; has opened up a whole new area to explore in Southern France. Nowadays, you can fly direct from over 240 destinations to the South of France.

A lot of the low cost airports in Southern France were formerly naval or air force bases, but they have now been developed to provide regular civil flights, to serve the tourism industry in Southern France. Most of these newer airports have taken great strides in recent years to develop improved passenger facilities, with Perpignan airport and Carcassonne airport in particular, undertaking major refurbishments. These airports no longer look like high school gymnasiums (although Rodez airport and Beziers airport still do to a certain extent).

I have arranged these airports serving the South of France in geographical order, starting in the French Riviera with Nice airport and moving round through Provence (with Toulon and Marseille airports), then down to the Languedoc (with Nimes, Montpellier, Beziers, Carcassonne and Perpignan airport); and then finally to the Toulouse and Rodez airport serving the rest of the Occitanie region of central Southern France. I have also added short cut links to our long term rental properties in Southern France, that are within 1 hour drive of each airport.

1. Nice international airport France

Nice airport is the gateway to the stunning French Riviera and it is the largest international airport in South France. It currently serves 15 million passengers per year and handles more than 200 daily flights. Currently, 61 different airlines operate out of Nice airport, serving over 130 destinations across 47 countries.

Nice has an excellent network of direct European flights. There are direct flights from the UK from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Luton and London Stansted, together with Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Newcastle. Direct connections are also available from Dublin and Cork in Ireland, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, as well as numerous German cities including Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Stuttgart. There are also frequent flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly, providing useful onward connections for international travellers.

Nice is also exceptionally well connected with North America. Direct US destinations include New York, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington. During 2027, American Airlines is adding a daily summer service between New York JFK and Nice. In terms of Canada, Montreal is served directly by Air Canada and there will be a new direct flight between Toronto and Nice opening up in 2027.

For travellers arriving from Australia or New Zealand, connections through major hubs such as Paris, London and Amsterdam provide a wide choice of onward flights to Nice.

Long term Rentals on the French Riviera near Nice airport

Menton, French Riviera

The stunning coastline of the French Riviera has been attracting holidaymakers for over 200 years. Nice airport provides quick access to the local motorway and public transport network, so it is easy to reach popular destinations such as St Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Mougins, Grasse, Eze, St-Paul-de-Vence, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Monaco and Menton. There are also many things to do and see in Nice itself, with more museums and art galleries than any other city in France outside of Paris. The annual Carnival, held in Nice every February/March, is the largest festival in France and one of the largest Carnivals in the World after Rio. The Nice Jazz festival, is one of the oldest Jazz festivals in the World, starting in 1948. The festival is held in July each year.

This collection of long term rental villas and apartments within 1 hour drive of near Nice France, can be rented for 3 to 12 months. The properties provide a perfect base for a long stay on the French Riviera.

2. Toulon airport South France

Toulon is a former military airport located just outside the seaside town of Hyeres. Toulon is predominantly a domestic airport, with regular flights to Paris Orly, Nantes, Brest and Lille.

For international travellers, there are direct seasonal services from London City, Rotterdam and Luxembourg. The London City connection is particularly useful for UK travellers, while Rotterdam provides an alternative connection for travellers from the Netherlands.

Long term rentals in Provence France

Toulon airport is the closest airport to Saint Tropez and it also provides access to the beautiful Var department, covering the eastern part of Provence. The airport is therefore a good option for reaching such popular Provençal towns as Cotignac, Barjols, Salernes, Fayence, Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, Brignoles and Callian.

This collection of long term rentals in Provence can be accessed by both Toulon and Marseille airports (see below). It is not always easy to find houses in Provence that will rent for a full 12 months (due to the high demand for shorter rentals over the summer), but we do have a few properties that can be rented for up to 12 months. The properties provide a perfect base for a long stay in Provence.

3. Marseille-Provence international airport France 2026 flights

Marseille airport is one of the largest regional airports in France, handling more than 11 million passengers a year. It has an extensive international network, with direct flights to more than 120 destinations in over 30 countries, as well as particularly good connections with North Africa.

The airport has undergone a major redevelopment in recent years, including the opening of the new Terminal 1 in 2024. We often use Marseille airport ourselves when flying back to the UK. One of its other advantages is the nearby Vitrolles-Aéroport Marseille railway station, reached by a short shuttle bus from the terminals, which provides useful onward train connections. There are also plenty of hotels close to the airport.

For UK travellers, Marseille has direct flights to London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted, as well as Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow. There are also direct flights to Dublin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stockholm, together with German connections including Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf and Berlin. Many of these routes are seasonal, while the larger European hubs provide year-round connections.

Marseille also has increasingly useful long-haul connections. There are direct flights to Montreal and Quebec in Canada, and from 2027 United Airlines will operate a direct seasonal service between Marseille and New York/Newark. Other long-haul destinations include Shanghai and La Réunion.

For travellers coming from elsewhere in Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand, the frequent connections through Paris, London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt provide a wide choice of onward routes to Marseille.

Marseille airport in South France is quite handy for reaching long term rental properties in western Provence -  especially around Aix-en-Provence, the beautiful Luberon region and around the pretty villages of Gordes, Roussillon and L'Isle-sur-Sorgue.

4. Cheap flights to Nimes South France international airport

This former naval airbase has been developed into Nîmes Airport in recent years. Nîmes airport has a number of different names (all designed by a committee no doubt). Its official name is Nîmes–Alès–Camargue–Cévennes Airport, it is also known locally as Garons Airport, after the village where it is based, and on road signs as Nîmes Garons Airport. I prefer just Nîmes airport!

The airport is located around 9 km south-east of Nîmes and is particularly useful for anyone considering living in the western part of Provence, around Nîmes and Uzès, or in the Camargue. Arles is around 25 minutes away, while Avignon, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and other parts of western Provence are also within easy reach.

Nîmes is a small airport and Ryanair is currently its only scheduled airline. The limited number of routes is compensated for by the airport's convenient location and relatively easy access compared with the much larger airports at Marseille and Montpellier.

For UK travellers, Ryanair operates direct flights between London Stansted and Nîmes around twice a week during the summer season. There are also direct summer flights from Dublin, generally around twice a week, making Nîmes particularly useful for our British and Irish customers.

Other direct destinations include Brussels Charleroi, which has flights throughout the year, together with seasonal flights to Porto. Direct services also operate to Fez and Marrakech in Morocco.

Long term rentals near Nimes airport Southern France

The area surrounding Nimes was an important settlement during Roman times and there are some beautiful archaeological sites to see. You have your choice of the Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, the amphitheatre and Maison Carree in Nimes and other sites in nearby towns such as Arles, Uzes and Sommieres.

Also on your doorstep you have St-Remy-de-Provence, Avignon, Aigues-Mortes, Anduze and Beau-de-Provence. Nimes airport provides quick access to the local motorway and this collection of villas near Nimes France, can all be accessed in under 30 minutes:

5. Cheap flights to Montpellier airport South France

Montpellier airport is the busiest airport in the Languedoc and one of the most useful airports for our customers considering a move to this part of Southern France. The airport handles around 1.7 million passenger journeys each year and serves more than 40 destinations across France and Europe.

The airport is particularly convenient for Montpellier, Sète and the Mediterranean coast, as well as popular inland areas around Pézenas, Clermont-l'Hérault and Lodève. With good road connections to the A9 and A75 motorways, it is also a practical arrival airport for a much wider area of the eastern Languedoc.

For UK travellers, EasyJet operates direct flights between London Gatwick and Montpellier throughout the year, with additional seasonal services from Manchester. There are also direct flights from Dublin in Ireland.

Montpellier has particularly useful connections with Amsterdam, providing an important onward hub for international travellers. There are also direct Scandinavian services from Copenhagen and Stockholm, together with flights to Basel-Mulhouse and Zurich in Switzerland.

Other useful direct destinations include Paris, Lisbon, Madrid, Rome and Istanbul, together with a wide range of flights to Spain, North Africa and other French cities.

There are currently no direct flights between Montpellier and North America, Australia or New Zealand, but connections through Paris, London and Amsterdam make the airport relatively straightforward to reach from these countries.

Houses to rent long term in and around Montpellier, France

Montpellier, France, is a great city for a long term rental. Montpellier has it all. The beaches are just 10 km from the city centre. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The historic centre of the city is full of life and has excellent restaurants, bars and shops. There are many cultural activities including a world famous art gallery (Musee Fabre), a stunning Opera house, live music venues and summer arts festivals covering film, dance, theatre and classical music.

You have all of this, plus 300 days of sunshine a year! It is easy to see why Montpellier has become the fastest growing city in France. But with the increase in population (the metropolitan area of Montpellier has increased in size from 150,000 inhabitants in 1965 to nearly 500,000 in 2026), the demand for property is also very high. Our son studies in Montpellier, so we know how difficult it is to obtain rental properties there. You literally need to check the rental listings in the morning, phone up immediately for a viewing appointment and then be ready to pay your deposit cheque and submit your rental dossier there and then. If you are lucky, there will just be a small queue of 10 people waiting behind you. As a foreigner, moving to Montpellier is doubly difficult. Most Landlords will want to see copies of your French tax returns, your French employment contract and your previous addresses in France - all of which will be difficult for you to provide (see our article How to rent a house in France for 12 months for a full explanation of why it is so difficult for foreigners to rent in France)..

Thankfully, through our business, we have a range of rental properties around Montpellier that will consider renting to foreign clients. The rental process is simple and straightforward and you do not need to provide a rental dossier 2 inches thick! 6. Flights to Beziers France international airport 2027

Béziers Cap d'Agde airport is a small regional airport about 15km south-east of Béziers city centre. It is particularly convenient for Béziers, Pézenas, Agde, Marseillan and the Mediterranean coast, as well as the many villages of the Hérault and eastern Minervois. The airport has certainly helped to open up this part of the Languedoc to holidaymakers, property buyers and people looking to spend longer periods living in Southern France.

Béziers airport now handles just under 300,000 passengers a year, a huge increase from around 30,000 passengers in 2007. Despite this growth, it remains a small and relatively easy airport to use.

The airport has useful local transport connections, including shuttle buses to Béziers SNCF train station, where there are onward rail connections towards Montpellier, Nîmes, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse and other destinations. Bus connections also serve places including Agde, Marseillan and Vias, and there is a small selection of car hire companies at the airport.

One word of warning from personal experience: airport taxis can be expensive from Beziers. A taxi to Pézenas, for example, can cost considerably more than the cost of your Ryanair flight! When you consider it is only 30 km, then you are really entering Bandit-country with some of these taxi operators. The last time I flew back into Beziers, the airport authorities had even put up a notice by the baggage collection, outlining the suggested prices of taxis from the airport to various destinations. I was also told by someone that the taxi drivers also now charge €4.00 per suitcase. I just think that it is a bit of a rip-off.

My advice, if you are travelling alone or as a couple, check the local bus connections or arrange transport in advance. The airport tries to coordinate its shuttle services with arriving and departing flights.

Ryanair operates all the scheduled international services from Béziers. For UK travellers, there are summer flights from London Luton, London Stansted, Bristol and Manchester, generally around 3 flights per week, together with direct summer flights from Edinburgh.

For Irish travellers, there are direct summer flights from Shannon, generally around 2 flights per week. Scandinavian travellers can fly directly from Stockholm Arlanda, also around 2 flights per week during the main summer season. Other direct destinations include Brussels Charleroi and Düsseldorf Weeze in Germany.

There are no direct long-haul flights from Béziers. Travellers arriving from Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand can connect through London, or alternatively use the larger airports at Montpellier, Toulouse, Marseille or Barcelona.

Beziers ideal location for long term lets, France

In terms of a location for a long term rental in South France, Beziers has everything going for it. It is just 10km from the Mediterranean coast. It has a great transport network. It has over 2,000 years of history and it is quickly regenerating itself for the 21st Century. There is a real spirit about Beziers (some good, some not so good) and its star is definitely rising. Money is pouring into Beziers. Both from the local and central governments investing heavily to improve the range of facilities it offers and its physical appearance and from Property Investors looking to capitalise on the growth that this will bring.

This historic South France city grew famous as the capital of the wine region in Southern France. A settlement has stood here on the banks of the River Orb, since before Roman times. There are remains from Greek settlers (who first arrived in the 6th century BC) and new archaeological remains have been unearthed to show that a settlers may have been living on the site of Beziers well-before the Greeks. This would make Béziers the oldest town in France, even before Marseille.

The countryside around Beziers is glorious. The city is surrounded by vineyards in all directions and the Mediterranean beaches are just 10 kms from the city. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity then the Haut Languedoc Regional Park, about 45mins from Beziers, is a good choice.

There are a number of local villages around Beziers that I would recommend you consider as a base for a long stay in France. If you want to be right on the coast, I would suggest that you consider places such as:

  • Portiragnes is located just 3kms from Beziers airport. There are actually two Portiragnes - the old village located beside the Canal du Midi and the holiday resort of Portiragnes Plage situated 3kms away on the Mediterranean coast
  • Vias - is located 5kms from Beziers airport. Like Portiragnes the town is split in 2 halves. There is the old medieval village of Vias and the modern resort of Vias Plage which is 2kms away on the coast and is home to numerous campsites and Amusement parks.
  • Serignan - is located 10 km from Beziers airport. It is a small town with a good range of shops and services, as well as an excellent Modern Art museum. Serignan Plage is located 3kms from the town and is one of the best beaches in the Beziers area.
  • Marseillan - is a beautiful harbour town with its own beach located 3 kms away. Marseillan features numerous harbour-side restaurants and bars and is also home to Noilly Prat (the key ingredient for Martini drinks).

If you are looking for a quieter village base near Beziers, then these are good locations to look at:

  • St Genies de Fontedit - this old wine-making village is situated 15 mins North-West of Beziers, in between the Mediterranean coast and the Black Mountains. The village is surrounded by vineyards and has lovely views over the hills. Next to the village there is a handy commercial centre with supermarkets, an exellent butcher, boulangerie, pharmacy. The D909 main road also provides easy access down to the coast, Beziers ariport and the A9 motorway
  • Thezan-les-Beziers - a lot of investment has been made into this village in the last few years. The centre of the village has undergone a major facelift and there is a very smart shopping centre on the edge of the village. Thezan is just 5 mins drive from Beziers and is located on the old wine route through the Orb river valley.
  • Lieuran-lès-Beziers - this is a very pretty village with the Libron river running through the centre.
  • Cessenon-sur-Orb - another pretty village, slightly further inland from Beziers. The River Orb runs past the edge of the village and is a popular swimming spot.
  • Abeilhan - the village was a former Roman settlement, which made use of its hilltop location for defence. Today the village is an important wine-making centre, with a number of popular vineyards.
  • Magalas - this large village has a surprising range of facilities including 2 supermarkets, a DIY store, butchers, bakeries, a medical centre, 2 restaurants and a primary and secondary school. Magalas is very much a working village, but the vineyards surrounding the village are beautiful. It also has its own train station with services to Beziers.

7. Cheap flights to Perpignan France international airport Southern France

Perpignan airport is the southernmost international airport in mainland France and is particularly useful for anyone considering living in the Pyrénées-Orientales, around Perpignan, Collioure, Céret and the Mediterranean coast. It can also be a useful gateway for the eastern Pyrenees and the ski resorts around Font-Romeu and Les Angles.

Perpignan airport developed considerably after Ryanair introduced flights from Ireland and the UK, although its international network has reduced in recent years. This is a shame because the low-cost flights helped to open up this beautiful corner of Southern France to visitors, property buyers and people looking to spend longer periods here.

The airport has undergone a much-needed refurbishment and handled over 470,000 passenger journeys in 2026. It remains predominantly a seasonal airport, although there are year-round flights to Paris Orly, Nantes and Lille, providing useful connections with the rest of France.

For UK travellers, Ryanair operates seasonal direct flights from London Stansted, generally around 4 flights per week, together with summer services from Birmingham and Leeds Bradford, generally around 2 flights per week.

For Irish travellers, Aer Lingus operates direct flights from Dublin, with around 4 flights per week during the main summer season. Other international services include Brussels Charleroi and Marrakech, with some flights operating throughout the year.

There are currently no direct services from Germany, Scandinavia, Amsterdam or North America. Travellers arriving from Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand can connect through Paris, while Barcelona airport, around two hours to the south by road, provides a much larger range of international and long-haul flights.

Perpignan also has a TGV train station with fast services up to Paris (5 hours 50 mins) and down to Barcelona (2 hours 35 mins). The A9 autoroute also passes close to Perpignan. So if you are looking for a convenient base for a long stay in France, then Perpignan is a great spot to choose.

8. Cheap flights to Carcassonne France international airport

Carcassonne airport has undergone a major facelift in recent years, with a new frontage to the airport entrance and significant upgrades to the passenger facilities. It is still a very small airport, with just four departure lounges and a team of staff who sometimes still seem to get taken by surprise when a plane lands!

During 2025, Carcassonne airport handled around 340,000 passengers, an increase of approximately 20% on 2024. Ryanair remains the principal airline and operates direct flights between Carcassonne and destinations in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Italy and Morocco.

For LTRiF customers, Carcassonne is an extremely useful airport. As well as serving Carcassonne and the Aude, it provides easy access to the Minervois, Corbières, Limoux and the villages south towards the Pyrenees. It can also be a convenient airport for the western Hérault and parts of the Tarn.

For UK travellers, London Stansted and Manchester are the most useful routes because flights operate throughout the year, with additional services during the summer. There are generally around 2 flights per week during winter, increasing considerably during the main summer season. Seasonal direct flights also operate from Bournemouth and East Midlands, generally around 2 flights per week.

For Irish travellers, Ryanair operates seasonal flights from Dublin, generally around 3 flights per week, together with summer flights from Cork, usually around 2 flights per week.

Other direct destinations include Brussels Charleroi, Porto, Tangier and Cagliari in Sardinia.

There are currently no direct flights from Germany, Scandinavia, Amsterdam or North America. Travellers arriving from Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand can connect through London, while Toulouse airport, around an hour away by road, provides a much larger choice of European and international connections.

There is a regular bus service from Carcassonne airport into the city. The bus times are coordinated with the flight arrivals and departures. In the centre of Carcassonne, there is also a mainline train station, where you can pick up train services to both Narbonne and Toulouse. There are connecting TGV trains to Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille and Barcelona. The A61 motorway runs right past the town and connects Narbonne in the east with Toulouse and Bordeaux in the west.

9. Cheap flights South France to Rodez airport

I don't know why, but I always seem to forget Rodez airport when I think of airports in the South of France. But it actually serves a very useful area for long term rentals in south-central France, particularly the Aveyron, Lot and Tarn.

Within around an hour or so of the airport you can reach places such as the beautiful cathedral city of Albi (birthplace of the painter Henri Toulouse-Lautrec), the medieval town of Figeac, the spectacular hilltop village of Cordes-sur-Ciel, the wine-producing town of Gaillac and the fortified village of Najac. For anyone looking for a quieter and generally more affordable alternative to Provence or the Mediterranean coast, this is an interesting part of France to consider.

Albi in the Tarn, France [Photo courtesy of https://www.instagram.com/albitourisme/]

Rodez airport is located around 10km outside Rodez, the main town of the Aveyron. Even with its newer passenger terminal, facilities are fairly limited, but that is also part of its appeal: you can park close to the terminal and getting on and off your flight is generally quick and straightforward. During 2025, Rodez airport handled over 190,000 passenger journeys.

The international flight network is small and predominantly seasonal. Ryanair operates direct summer flights from London Stansted and Dublin, generally around 2 flights per week from each airport. There are also seasonal flights from Brussels Charleroi.

The most important year-round connection is Paris Orly, with regular flights throughout the week, providing a useful connection for travellers arriving from further afield. Seasonal direct flights also operate from Porto.

There are no direct flights from Germany, Scandinavia, Amsterdam or North America. Travellers arriving from Canada, the USA, Australia or New Zealand can connect through Paris, while Toulouse airport provides a much wider choice of international flights for anyone prepared to drive farther.

10. Toulouse airport flights from UK 2027

Toulouse airport is one of the major airports in Southern France, handling around 8 million passengers a year and providing an extensive network of domestic and international flights. The airport has strong links with Airbus and the European aerospace industry, which has helped Toulouse develop into an important international business and transport hub.

For LTRiF customers, Toulouse airport has an enormous catchment area. As well as Toulouse and the Haute-Garonne, it is a useful airport for people considering living in the Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gers, Ariège and Lot, as well as western parts of the Aude. During the winter it is also an important gateway to the Pyrenees.

Toulouse has particularly good connections with the UK. There are direct flights from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. London Stansted operates throughout the year, as do services from Gatwick and Bristol, although frequencies vary according to the season. There are also direct flights from Dublin in Ireland.

For travellers from northern Europe, Toulouse has direct connections with Amsterdam, together with useful services from Frankfurt and Munich in Germany. Scandinavian connections include Copenhagen, although some of these routes are seasonal.

Toulouse also has frequent flights to Paris, providing excellent onward connections for long-haul travellers. Other major European connections include Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Brussels and Geneva, together with a large network of seasonal Mediterranean destinations.

Toulouse also has a direct seasonal connection with Montreal in Canada, operated by Air Canada, making Toulouse particularly convenient for Canadian customers considering living in South-West France. For other travellers arriving from Canada or the USA, there are good onward connections through Paris, London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt. These major European hubs also provide convenient connections for travellers arriving from Australia and New Zealand.

Toulouse airport is located in the northern suburbs of the city and there is a regular bus that takes you to the centre of Toulouse and the TGV train station.

Midi-Pyrenees long term rentals near to Toulouse airport

Toulouse is the 4th largest city in France and has a population of around 500,000 people. It has a strong business environment, with Airbus alone employing 50,000 people. Toulouse is also home to a number of Universities and it has one of the most successful Rugby teams in France. The centre of the Toulouse is very pretty, with the Garonne river running through the centre and a maze of narrow shopping streets.

Toulouse airport is also quite handy to reach long term rentals in the Carcassonne area and also the old Midi-Pyrenees region (covering the departments of the Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, the Lot and the Gers). There is a motorway link between Toulouse and Carcassonne and the travel time is under 50 minutes. The A62 motorway travels north-west of Toulouse past the Gers department and into the Tarn-et-Garonne. The motorway connects up to the A20 highway, which travels up through the Lot department and onward up towards Paris. The A68 motorway travels north-east from Toulouse into the Tarn department. There are also regional train connections to the major towns in the area such as Montauban, Auch, Cahors, and Albi.

Moving to France in 2027 . . . ?

If you are thinking about moving to France, I would strongly suggest that you have a good look at the transport links from different locations before deciding on a region to live. If you can get back to your home country easily and quickly (and also friends and family can pop over to see you regularly), then it makes the whole experience of living in France much easier. Whilst you will obviously have more flights in the summer period, the cost generally ratchets up as well. You also have to look hard at the flights that run all year around.

If you are moving to France, we make the process of initially renting a house in France very straightforward. We don't require a stack of paperwork like a lot of French rental agents. We simply ask for copies of your ID (passport) and some evidence of ability to pay the monthly rent (which could be a copy of your bank statement, employment contract, bank reference or copies of your current rental/home loan payments). You can secure the property by paying a 1 month deposit (which becomes your security deposit for the tenancy).  For more information about how to find a house for rent in France:
